  • Morris man and lunchtime drinkers gather in Leadenhall Market on St George's Day, when 'Englishmen' celebrate their patron saint. Wearing white uniforms they jig their traditional dance, a form of English folk dance accompanied by accordion and pipes. It is based on rhythmic stepping and the execution of choreographed figures by a group of dancers. Implements such as sticks, swords, and handkerchiefs may also be wielded by the dancers. In a small number of dances for one or two men, steps are performed near and across a pair of clay tobacco pipes laid across each other on the floor. English records of Morris dancing date back to 1448.

Thatcher (known to Britons as Maggie) served as leader of the Conservative party then Prime Minister of Britain from 1979 to 1990 and passed away peracefully from a stroke at age 87.

The Stasi Museum is a 22-hectare complex of research and memorial centre concerning the political system of the former East Germany. During Hitler's Third Reich, the Gestapo had one agent for every 2,000 citizens whereas the Stasi had approximately an spy for every 6.5. Here at the Stasi HQ alone 15,000 were employed plus the many regional stations. German media called East Germany 'the most perfected surveillance state of all time' - administered from this complex of offices.

Executions took place at Sachsenhausen, especially of Soviet prisoners of war. 30,000 inmates died there from exhaustion, disease, malnutrition, pneumonia, etc. The remaining buildings and grounds are now open to the public as a museum.
