Several figures who are also reduced to black shapes and without detail that may identify them or their clothes, are hurrying in different directions, carrying a bag or briefcase but the feeling of rushing business is seen and their scale is ambiguous becase we don't know how close or far away they are from each other. This is due to telephoto lens forshortening. Some therefore look giants and some appear tiny. Broadgate Estate is a large, 32 acre (129,000 m²) office and retail estate in the City of London, owned by British Land and managed by Broadgate Estates. • A seller of flowers stands looking down a street in the Polish capital, Warsaw. Holding a single bouquet, the elderly man has located himself on the corner of Zapiecek Street (Zapiecek means place behind the stove) awaiting a buyer. With his hand on one hip, he has laid more yellow and red flowers that he has probably grown himself and is trying to make a meagre living from. But there are few people on this street this early in the oldest part of Warsaw and the walls appear to be damp, with discoloured plaster after decades of decay under a Communist government. Old paving slabs on the pavement and a cobbled road give a sense of history and wartime destruction for these streets saw many atrocities during the German occupation in WW2. This is a scene of pessimism and poverty yet with a small degree of hope in the fresh flowers.

  • Accompanied by a City of London police officer, members of a Druid sect walk through the street as part of their Spring Equinox celebrations. The Ancient Druids were once Judges, Kingmakers, Scientists, Magicians and Priests and their modern counterparts may be viewed likewise. The word itself comes through both Brythonic tongues (Cornish and Welsh) meaning either knowledge of the oak or wizard - or wise man in Gaelic (Irish and Scots.) Druidry itself is both a philosophical viewpoint and a religious world view, although many Druids view themselves also as Pagan Priests. A druid was a member of the priestly class in Gaul and possibly other parts of Celtic western Europe during the Iron Age. Following the invasion of Gaul by the Roman Empire, the druids were suppressed by the Roman government.

  • Two men enjoy their own versions of Blackpool North Pier, Lancashire, England. On the right, the first man is lying down on a bench with his trousers gathered around his ankles, his red bathing costume or underpants are baggy and he is looking across to something of interest while scratching his bald head. The second man on the right is not wearing a shirt and his stomach is spilling over his trousers. He has a bunch of keys attached to his belt and is pointing a video camera (camcorder) towards the shore. It is a comical scene and typical of Blackpool beach life. This northern sea side resort in the north-west of England is diverse in its transient holiday population whose behaviour can be routinely odd.

  • Three dads are looking their respective children of varying ages - from a baby to an infant and 8-year old. In the foreground a father reads his tabloid newspaper as his toddler sleeps contentedly in its pushchair, a dummy in the mouth and a blanket scross its body to keep out a chilly breeze. Further back another man stands waiting for his partner with a baby, also asleep in the buggy. And thirdly, a male pushes his daughter in pink up a small slope on a bicycle that uses stablizers. It is a busy scene on Paignton seafront on the Devon coast. Elsewhere children and adults of all ages walk along the esplanade enjoying an overcast and windy day on holiday. This theatrical scene is about the ideal father and the family unit.

  • As a young office worker sleeps incongruously on a marble pavement, a street sweeper nearby brushes away litter with a small dustpan. The manual labourer wears blue overalls, yellow gloves and keys in his back pocket while the man in a wastecoat and smart trousers and polished slip-on shoes appears to be fast asleep, his fingers across his chest. This scene suggests the social divisions of the working man: Of the young, educated post-war generation whose opportunities have afforded them a faster lifestyle, far removed from that of the physically-demanding job of a man whose life has been spent cleaning and sweeping. English social differences is clearly represented here as the harshness of the manual labourer versus a lazy youth of today, seen in the middle of the modern city.

  • Standing late at night in the doorway of a Soho nightclub in Old Compton Street, London England, a bouncer provides security for his employer. Otherwise known as doormen or door supervisers, these usually hardened men offer a deterrent for anyone causing trouble inside ot out of licensed bars and clubs such as this. Lit from overhead spotlights, he looks menacing and capable of street violence - enough to urge troublemakers to move on quick. reflected in the glass is Ed's Diner a well-known eaterie in this street. Soho is known as a rather seedy but vibrant area of London's West End and late-night social disorder fuelled by excessive alcohol is pretty much normal.
