  • A two and half year-old girl sits next to her three-month old baby brother, eating lunch during a day out with their mother who is seen holding on tight to the boy. With their hands up to each other's mouths, the girl takes a bite of a slice of bread sandwich. She is clearly relishing her food and has a large appetite while the boy seems to enjoy sucking on his fingers before the age where he can eat solids. From a personal documentary project entitled "Next of Kin" about the photographer's two children's early years spent in parallel universes. Model released.

  • As evening light fades, bright light from the electricity-hungry Canary Wharf docklands development is supplied by the voltage from electricity cables and supporting struts at an east London sub-station, England. A network of 110 miles of cables have stretched across 542 'L6' pylons across England's Kent countryside, from the coal-fired power station at Dungeness to this location, carrying 40,000 Volts along this network of aluminium cables to power some of London's high supply demands. Insatiable appetites for energy means electricity is now an expensive commodity after climbing oil prices doubled electricity utility bills for some domestic users.

  • Two obese parents and their normal weight child sit with their backs to the viewer on the edge of a pool on the open deck of the Fun Ship Ecstasy belonging to Carnival Cruises, as it sails through the Gulf of Mexico. The two adults and the girl wear bathing costumes and their tanned skin is exposed to the sun. They are sitting on the rectangular pool-side tiles taking in the atmosphere and the blue water that they're facing. We see the comparison of healthy youth and oversized adulthood, the parents' wide posteriors dwarf the normal size of their child.

  • The image of a once-famous stag who used to be fed by tourists and the owner of the Oasis cafe on the A82 on Rannoch Moor but shot many times with an air gun by juvenile New Year revellers. Looking out onto the moors it roamed in life, the deer named Big Boy by locals had an insatiable appetite for scraps from outdoor snack bar owner MacDonald and his customers, the stag inched ever closer to the migrant humanity alongside the road. So locally famous did he become that one Hogmanay, the beast was shot several times by air gun-toting juveniles and is now a tragic, posthumous print on the same tourist cafe trailer. Now holidaymakers, unaware of the animal's life and death near this spot, merely stop to photograph the scenery in the hope of seeing the nearby herd that Big Boy ruled over.

  • Sitting among others in long grass a middle-class lady reads the high-circulation Daily Mail newspaper during a lunchtime break at the Chelsea Flower Show, in London England. The front page headline reads 'Icy Blast from the Kremlin' in an echo from the darkest days of the Cold War, when western media fuelled the insatiable appetite for propaganda. But this scene is from May 1989 before the fall of the Berlin Wall and when the eastern states of the Warsaw Pact were still ruled by their Communist masters. Visitors to this annual horticultural event either sit in the cool shade or like this woman who appears comfortable cross-legged in sandals and a summer dress, stays under the hot mid-day sun with her tabloid format paper spread and with her possessions kept in a shoulder bag.

  • Using the Ball Mat Flooring System, below the flooring of economy class, a cargo handler manhandles a container of air freight into position in the hold of a Sri Lankan Airlines Airbus A340 that is about to depart from Male, the capital of the Republic of the Maldives to Colombo. Inside the aluminium box is fresh tuna fish, freshly caught in the Indian Ocean and bound for the supermarkets of the EU and in particular, the UK whose insatiable appetite for fresh, perishable and sustainable foodstuffs make this fast and efficient form of transport important to speedy delivery. Every square inch is accounted for but as well as passengers' baggage, the cramped spaces beneath this modern airliner store loaded revenue-rich cargo though specially-pressurised and heated compartments accommodate live animals.

  • The outline of electricity cables stretch across a gloomy winter sky in woodland near Wrington, North Somerset England. Diagonally, the cables travel across the picture but they are part of a line of L6 pylons that have already crossed many miles of South-West England's countryside, carrying 40,000 Volts along this network of aluminium cables to power some of Bristol's high supply demands. In the foreground we see the bare boughs and branches of trees creating a Sci-Fi scene of ugly 21st technology versus the beauty of nature. Insatiable appetites for raw power and energy means electricity is now an expensive comodity after climbing oil prices doubled electricity utility bills for some domestic users.
