  • Three bathers lie on the shingle in the lee of a groyne, a wooden screen from the fresh breeze that has been written on by unknown people having scrawled their names and a noughts and crosses puzzle written in chalk. One person wears his socks in true English style and the lady in the middle has her bag containing possessions near her head. Above them sits a lifeguard on a pair of high steps, peering along the beach with a pair of binoculars. Meanwhile, a lone seagull wheels around the coastal thermals and is caught between the wooden slats of the groyne.

  • The British Union Jack Flag flies in a stiff breeze, its colours of red-white and blue almost wholly horizontal as the wind tears through the blue skies and beneath wispy cirrus clouds, in Eastbourne, West Sussex, England UK. Tied to its flag-pole, this symbol of patriotic nationalism, evokes a sense of pride and spirit the British are known for - having encouraged them through two world wars and more recently, other military campaigns. The colours (colors) of Scotland's blue and white crosses and the English cross of St. George are merged to make this well-known symbol of the British Isles.

  • Britain's Union Jack flag flies in a breeze with British Parliament's Big Ben clock tower at the Palace of Westminster in the background. As a symbol of parliamentary power and a national democracy, the colours flutter in a breeze alongside the Thames River on the southern Lambeth bank side. The clock shows just after 1 in the afternoon. The Palace, also known as the Houses of Parliament or Westminster Palace, is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (the House of Lords and the House of Commons) conduct their business. It is therefore a potent symbol for British Governmental power, influence and a world-famous landmark for tourists. Big Ben is the name of the clock's bell and not the tower itself.

  • During a time-exposure of a few seconds, the ambient neon and natural evening light of Miami Beach's Ocean Drive are mixed together to give an atmospheric mood of vitality, bustle and excitement in this tropical city. The vertical-aligned name of the famous Colony Hotel is seen through the darkened window of an SUV (4x4). Glowing pinks and blues are vivid in this scene where beautiful people and expensive cars cruise along slowly, each parading bodywork and personality. Palm trees sway about in the coastal breeze, blurring during the exposure and making them ghostly against the fading sky of early evening. This is vibrant district of Miami, Florida. • Three dads are looking their respective children of varying ages - from a baby to an infant and 8-year old. In the foreground a father reads his tabloid newspaper as his toddler sleeps contentedly in its pushchair, a dummy in the mouth and a blanket scross its body to keep out a chilly breeze. Further back another man stands waiting for his partner with a baby, also asleep in the buggy. And thirdly, a male pushes his daughter in pink up a small slope on a bicycle that uses stablizers. It is a busy scene on Paignton seafront on the Devon coast. Elsewhere children and adults of all ages walk along the esplanade enjoying an overcast and windy day on holiday. This theatrical scene is about the ideal father and the family unit.

  • After heavy rain and the subsequent flooding, two lone canoeists paddle down the centre of the A27 near Chichester, West Sussex. The Dual carriageway has been completely submerged to approximately 1.5 metres and only the road sign with its directional arrow is visible above the surface which is rippling in a faint breeze. The men in red and yellow kayaks look inexperienced in boating activities and their clothing is not suitable for water sports. Even so, they are speeding down the highway that is otherwise empty of all other vehicles and they have the water and space to themselves without the fear of collision.

  • Looking upwards through a gap in some trees, we see in the background the huge skyscraper office tower of the Commerzbank (Europe's tallest building (1997-2005), designed by Sir Norman Foster) and other institutions in the financial district of Frankfurt, Germany. In the foreground is a set of traffic lights with a traffic lane arrow direction sign and during the long time-exposure the red, amber and green lights have registered on the film to say stop, ready, go. There is a light mist settling on the cityscape which can be seen around the intense of the street lighting giving the scene a futuristic atmosphere like the Blade Runner movie. Apart from the prime colours (colors) emitted by the traffic lights, the image has an otherwise green hue including the tree foliage which is illuminated by the artificial lamps. The leaves are also blurring because of a faint breeze which registers during a long time-exposure.

  • Beneath an ugly breeze block concrete wall, a couple are enjoying their holiday in the English seaside town of Paignton, Devon. Sitting in striped deckchairs they are both curiously touching their own genital areas between their legs, perhaps both scratching an itch. The lady in sunglasses wearing a floral dress on the left looks guilty while her topless male partner appears more amused by the interruption. In this depressing corner of Paignton, also called the English Riviera, the grey construction behind them is a grim reminder of what it is often like to holiday in one's own home country where few exotic luxuries are found. Such squalor is unfortunately common around the UK and a reason why people take their vacations abroad. Even the grass below them is bare with weeds growing and soil at the foot of the wall.

Lazily they glide down the calm rural waters in a beautiful and tranquil setting, on an English summer afternoon. Helping her husband to light his cigarette in a breeze, the woman's coat is blowing in the wind, so high up in the mountains have they stopped during a daytrip to the north Welsh hills. With pendants blowing in the breeze, its pristine paintwork shining in sunlight, the boat awaits its royal passengers for another official tour or voyage abroad. She was the 83rd such vessel since the restoration of King Charles II in 1660. Following Labour's victory on 1 May 1997 it was announced that the vessel would be retired and no replacement would be built. She is now permanently moored as an exhibition ship at Ocean Terminal, Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.

The total area is 303 square kilometres (117 sq mi), most of which is in Norfolk, with over 200 kilometres (120 mi) of navigable waterways. Lit with a strong off-camera flash we see the slightly blurred device, invented for saving lives at sea, with a ghostly corona around its form, against a fading blue sky. The rope dangles near the ground, around which the grasses of the dunes blow in a faint breeze. Only the foreground is lit by the flash and the distant castle building and shoreline. We see such equipment and imagine safety and rescue and also jeopardy and hazards at sea. Supplied for those taking risks and making stupid decisions makes these items essential on coastal areas.
