  • Graffiti sprayed on a rendered brick wall proclaims that a higher authority 'Can't evict our ideas'. This message of resistance by the underdogs of a moral majority appears on a part of wasteland in the Yorkshire city of Bradford, where the residents of an estate near the city centre have been forcibly removed to make space for a new development. Before their migration, the anonymous, downtrodden people were desperate enough to write this piece of anarchical philosophy that might be seen as a metaphor for a class war against the establishment by The People; the working classes otherwise known in Marxist ideology, as the Proletariat - a kind of thought from the (Orwellian) novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell.

  • A masked youth is seen after spraying graffiti art on to a wall in the Notting Hill area of West London, England. We see his partially-obscured face while holding a spray can in one hand. It is a chilly night and the boy's breath is seen against the frosty night air. His graffiti art has taken him some hours to spray on this white wall and shows a glossy finish. The picture is anonymous because of the young man's face is unseen and generic, because we don't see where the wall might be located.

  • As a scooter rider on a Vespa edges past, a number 28 tram rumbles along a narrow street in the Portuguese capital, on 13th July 2016, in Lisbon, Portugal. The 28 is one of the trams not only used by the people of the capital but also of an increasing number of tourists who ride the entire route from Prazeres cemetery in the west of the city, to Rossio in the centre, after a loop through some of the most amazing streets and landmarks. So crowded is the 28, that older locals often can't sit down, having to stand over younger, inconsiderate tourist families who want a window seat for the entire journey - and back. Notices at termini remind visitors that this is a public service and to consider locals. (Photo by Richard Baker / In Pictures via Getty Images)

  • Wearing a safety helmet and t-shirt , a nine year-old girl cyclist pretends to be asleep, having has collapsed on the grass at Peckham Rye Park in South London after a marathon ride into the centre of London. 'Freewheel' was a Hovis-sponsored event for riders and families to enjoy a day of traffic-free cycling through the capital's streets and this girl has ridden 18 miles on this late-summer Sunday - starting and finishing in this park. The shadow of a rear bicycle wheel can be seen to her right and she feigns death by spreading out on the grass, pretending to sleep before reviving herself with a drink and pedalling on home, yet another mile away.

  • "More than you can chew." A ten month-old infant uses new teeth to bite her mother's nose in the back garden of their Victorian south London terrace home. The mum winces in pain as the child sinks her new milk teeth into her skin but they enjoy a warm summer afternoon, playfully interacting with each other in a moment of parental love and harmony. The girl wears a short-sleeved t-shirt and has plump arms of baby fat, a healthy sign of a contented infant. This is from a documentary series of pictures about the first year of the photographer's first child Ella. Accompanied by personal reflections and references from various nursery rhymes, this work describes his wife Lynda's journey from expectant to actual motherhood and for Ella - from new-born to one year-old.
