  • An eleven year-old girl swings with head thrown backwards in a field in Herefordshire, England. It is an image of care-free youth, of a free-spirit and without a care in the world. The young lady gazes skyward as the swing takes her on an upward trajectory, the sun sinking behind distant trees, a scene of splendid inner-peace and tranquillity, disturbed only by the creaking of the rope on the tree above that supports her as she rides. She is staying at this small camp site where tipis and yurts is the theme of this eco-friendly and carbon-neutral holiday.

  • An urban tree is protected from a construction site by blue hoarding panels in the City of London. The landscape looks both incongruous and disturbing to the eye with the blue hoarding and its red safety light that glows in the daylight. • Followed by other vehicles, an anonymous Suzuki 4x4 drives along a boggy track in the English countryside. The drivers form a club of off-roaders who see it as their right to drive along public footpaths, designated as allowable for cars to drive upon. Churning up the mud, they create deep ruts in the path that disturbs local wildlife, alarms horses and endangers their riders if the world of technology meets nature. The front driver has taped over his registration plate number to remain unrecognisable.

  • At first glance, we see an angry male holding the severed head of another man in his right hand. But this is a circus act from the Archaos troupe, a french company of oerformers who tour the world with their anarchic version of big top entertainment. With a dark background and with the apparent murderer wearing black, it is an image of raw, homocidal thuggery: A massacre and attack on another human being. Despite it being a pretence, an act for the sake of an audience with a thirst for the macabre, it is still very disturbing.

  • A couple of mixed-race have put their heads through the apertures made in a painting that depicts Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, on the Palace Pier at Brighton, on the south coast of England. The faces peep through this traditional attraction that few can resist, even in the 21st century. The man's face looks disturbingly incongruous in the place where the Prince Consort's white German character would be. There is a message here of a changing multi-cultural British society where these friends or partners are from other ethnic backgrounds and where mixed-marriages are now commonplace, as opposed to the Victorian era when attitudes to racism and race-relations were vastly different.

It was designed to receive television signals from Nepal's main TV station is Nepal Television (NTV) whose programmes are mostly serials from Pakistan and Hindi films. Nepalis however, search the wider-world for their news digest and western culture, especially during governmental crackdown and censorship during the democracy protest disturbances of 2006. King Gyanendra imposed severe media restrictions after assuming direct control of the country the previous year. The scene is of new technology in the backdrop of a poor, third world country who freedoms of expression and experience of western democracy has been tested in recent years.

  • A detail of a shoe shop window that has closed for economic reasons. The window is in Victoria, the area of central London close to the mainline station and has been distempered with a mixture of white emulsion paint and water which prevents outsiders from peering inside, where stock may still be stored. Swirls from the cloth that wiped the paint across the glass has left a chaotic and confusing trace that makes it an almost abstract piece of art made by a disturbed artist. The word Shoe remains in bright red lettering and the single letter M afterwards. ..
