  • Two children walk along a path between two dry stone walls in the countryside around the Yorkshire town of Settle. Striding between the boundaries of agricultural grazing land, whose trees and undergrowth has been cleared, the kids have come from a distant farmhouse which has recently lost its stock of sheep due to Foot and Mouth disease. Dry stone walls serve as boundaries and enclosures for farmers and land owners. Built by tradesmen called Wallers, a dying tradition and skill, they're constructed from stones without any mortar to bind them together. The stones must be carefully selected by shape to ensure that they have a large contact surface area with their neighbours and so do not slip. They are a legacy of the movement towards enclosure of common farming and grazing land as English society moved away from medieval feudalism. Model released.

  • Two children lay down on the ground at the foot of a solid dry stone wall, up in the hills of the area of northern England known as the Dales, near Settle, Yorkshire. The two brother and sister have their faces against the rocks that serve as boundaries and enclosures for farmers and land owners. These walls were built by tradesmen called Wallers, a dying tradition and skill. Dry stone walls are constructed from stones without any mortar to bind them together. The wall is held up by special construction methods and by its weight. The stones must be carefully selected by shape to ensure that they have a large contact surface area with their neighbours and so do not slip. They are a legacy of the movement towards enclosure of common farming and grazing land as English society moved away from medieval feudalism. Model released.

It was designed to receive television signals from Nepal's main TV station is Nepal Television (NTV) whose programmes are mostly serials from Pakistan and Hindi films. Nepalis however, search the wider-world for their news digest and western culture, especially during governmental crackdown and censorship during the democracy protest disturbances of 2006. • Lone lady walker beneath Stanage Edge gritstone cliffs, Peak District National Park, Derbyshire..Located in the Peak District National Park in England Stanage Edge is the largest of the gritstone edges that overlook Hathersage in Derbyshire. Stanage Edge at approximately 4 miles in length and 458m at its highest point is the largest of the gritstone cliffs that overlook Hathersage, Derbyshire. The area is one of the most popular locations in the Peak District National Park for climbing and walking with hundreds of rock climbing routes to challenge all ranges of ability. Walkers are drawn to the area to enjoy the varied moorland scenery with stunning views across the surrounding countryside including Hathersage, Castleton and the 'Shivering Mountain', Mam Tor in the west. A walk along the edge is an easy route but the exposed cliff can make conditions difficult throughout the year as it is often battered by wind, rain and regular snowfall in the winter months. There are a number of popular walks including routes along the remains of a Roman Road and towards Redmires Reservoir to the east as well as longer walks such as those including the nearby Longshaw Estate. • Locals walk over the exposed stone walls of the once-thriving village of Ashopton that now lies at the bottom of Ladybower reservoir, Derbyshire, England. Remains of the village were revealed during the drought of 1989 the levels of water dropped from the country's reservoirs as rainfall failed in the heatwave while demand peaked in the cities such as Sheffield. The villages of Derwent & Ashopton were submerged when the valley was flooded, between 1943 & 1945, amid much controversy. Derwent church tower was left standing at first, but demolished in 1947 for safety reasons. The remains of the buildings are still visible when the water is very low, as it was in 1989.

  • Soon after setting sail from Miami, en-route to Cancun in Mexico, passengers of Carnival Cruise's Fun Ship Ecstasy liner are told to report on the top sun deck for the obligatory safety drill. Told to fetch their life vests from their respective cabins and suites, they have gathered at various muster points around the vessel to hear the crews' instructions about abandoning ship or the precuations needed to enter the water. We look down from a higher deck to see several dozen tourists on red vests, milling around awaiting the signal to return to their previous activities and entertainment. Operators like US-owned Carnival take these drills very seriously. Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of cheaper and shorter cruises. Its ships are known for their Las Vegas decor and entertainment. The cruise line calls its ships The Fun Ships and the MS Ecstasy is a Fantasy class cruise ship featuring two pools, whirlpools, a variety of dining options, nightclubs, a casino, and duty-free shopping. After Hurricane Katrina, she spent six months in New Orleans serving as quarters for refugees and relief workers. She suffered heavy damage in 1998 after the laundry room in the ship's stern caught fire damaging much of her stern and aft section.

  • It is 1985 and a farmer walks along a line of long, combustible straw and with a pitchfork and smouldering straw, sets fire to the organic material in an Essex field, southern England. It is late summer and the harvested corn has left behind short stubble which the farmer sets ablaze. This now restricted practice of destroying cereal straw and stubble by flame was stopped by the introduction of The Crop Residues (Burning) Regulations of 1993 which now restricts farmers on burning crop materials, including residues of oilseed rape, field beans and peas, except in very limited circumstances, e.g. for disease control where a plant health order has been served. The burning of straw and stubble also deprives the soil of valuable organic material and releases greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. ..

  • High above the streets of Old Lisbon, we see a Portuguese lady leaning out of her window to hang out her washing on the line that is attached to her home's exterior wall in the Bairro Alto district - or Upper City - the oldest of Lisbon's residential quarters. Items of underwear, socks and other miscellaneous clothing have been strung out on the line that is now pegged along the crumbling wall's surface with faded, peeling plaster and paint. A TV aerial has also been fixed precariously by the window and it's shadow can be seen in the sunshine which is strong and side-lighting the scene which has a warm, morning glow about it. Lisbon's Bairro Alto quarter is located above Baixa and developed in the 16th Century. Suffering very little damage in the earthquake of 1755, it remains the area of most character and renowned for its residential and working quarter for craftsmen and shopkeepers. At night, life takes on a diferent personality when bars and up until the 60s, prostitution gave the district a bad reputation in the past but nowadays tourists and the chic frequent its streets and traditional 'Fado' (classical Portuguese opera) bars. ...

The timbers are succumbing to the weather and tidal waters of the River Nevern and the boat is barely afloat in the waterlogged terrain. Weeds and other vegetation is gradually overtaking its integrity and its wooden frame is host to an abundance of plant and wildlife. It can no longer serve as a vessel of the river as it is a wreck that nature is reclaiming and soon to hide completely from view.
