  • Exterior of the Bank of England and the Corinthian columns of Rpyal Exchange on Threadneedle Street in the Square Mile, the capital's financial district, on 13th November 2017, in the City of London, England. The Bank of England, is the central bank of the United Kingdom and the model on which most modern central banks have been based. Established in 1694, it is the second oldest central bank in the world. Sir Herbert Baker's rebuilding of the Bank, demolishing most of Sir John Soane's earlier building, was described by architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as "the greatest architectural crime, in the City of London, of the twentieth century".

  • Someone's pet spaniel is enjoying the smell of another dog's faeces that has been deposited on the pavement at Newbiggin-by-the-sea in Northumberland, northern England. Using its wet nose to test its acute sense of smell, the spaniel shows great curiosity in another animals crap that has been left by the other animal's owner, rather than be collected and placed in a dog poo receptacle. The irony is that there is graffiti on the sea wall of this seaside town. The mis-spelled words 'England For Ever' have been sprayed in aerosol on the wall and we see someone's idea of a utopian England and another's lowered standards where the fouling of a public pavement is seen as acceptable.

To her left and right are reliefs of oak leaves. She is clothed and seated on a globe. Her hair forms a stylised crown for her head. With her raised right hand she holds her cloak which billows out to her left. With her left hand she supports on her opposite knee a temple-like building, with four columns and a pediment. Beside her right leg is a cascade of coins.

The two female caryatid figures, their torsos nude, but with thin drapery covering the lower parts of their bodies. Each supports a cornucopia on her shoulder and looks away from the arch, and across her raised arm, towards the two male figures beyond.

  • A life belt hangs on a cross-shaped post, all painted a vivid red as the sun sinks down below the horizon and beyond the historic Bamburgh Castle, in Northumberland, northern England. Lit with a strong off-camera flash we see the slightly blurred device, invented for saving lives at sea, with a ghostly corona around its form, against a fading blue sky. The rope dangles near the ground, around which the grasses of the dunes blow in a faint breeze. Only the foreground is lit by the flash and the distant castle building and shoreline. We see such equipment and imagine safety and rescue and also jeopardy and hazards at sea. Supplied for those taking risks and making stupid decisions makes these items essential on coastal areas.

  • Stopping work for a moment to pose for a portrait on the sea wall at Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, a team of the resort's lifeguards show their youth, fitness and bodies beautiful, displaying themselves in the sun of a fine summer day. There is only one female member but some are standing on the wall while others are seated in deck chairs, a ladder seat or on the hot sand near three sexy girls are are sunning themselves near a railing. Wearing bikinis one is not asleep but eyeing-up some of the alpha-male specimens on show wearing only red shorts. Meanwhile, holidaymakers walk past with ice-creams. It is a bright scene and obviously a busy time for these safety experts when tourists forever get themselves into danger in the sea and surf. Currents here make for a hazardous experience for those unable to swim out of trouble.

  • Latin inscriptions above columns with their Corinthian capitals of Cornhill in the heart of the Square Mile, the capital's historical and financial centre, on 1st November 2017, in the City of London, England. At the top of Doric and Ionic columns with their ornate stonework, powerfully strong lintels cross, bearing the load of fine artistry and carvings which feature the design by Sir William Tite in 1842-1844 and opened in 1844 by Queen Victoria whose name is written in Latin (Victoriae R).
