  • Attending to a floral memorial of Lillies in a 5th Avenue store front in mid-town Manhattan. In the days following the September 11th attacks, a store window dresser is seen through the glass with Fifth Avenue reflected behind. The words "In Memory and Gratitude" are written in block capitals on the window and a passer-by walks briskly past the large floral display and the large US flag that hangs vertically in mourning for those killed and those heroes helping to uncover their remains in the debris. America sought to express their anger and patriotic unity by installing these shrines in the frontages of businesses and in homes as New Yorkers try to pick up the pieces of their lives.

  • A child's fifth birthday banner has been pasted diagonally to the door of a pub on the Rockingham Estate in the London borough of Southwark, England. Coloured pink for a young girl's celebration, the banner stretches across the door of the family's local pub, painted yellow and red. Rockingham is located in south London near the Elephant and Castle. Notorious for youth issues including gangs and knife crime where 12-year-olds are seen holding knives in broad daylight. For families with young children this would be an intimidating community in which to live.

  • Mexican Papantla Flyers perform a pre-Hispanic ritual dedicated to their sun god, a leap from a 90 foot pole, on 15th May 1996, the Tulum ruins, Yucatan, Mexico. Dressed in their native costumes these men lash themselves to this towering pole with a leather bindings and soar off into space backwards and upside down in the ultimate leap of faith. The Papantla Flyers are Totonac Indians performing an ancient fertility ceremony. As they slowly descend to earth, the 13 revolutions made by the four flyers equal the 52-year span of the Aztec century. They represent earth, water, fire and air and the interweaving of these four elements symbolizes the creation of new life. A fifth man is left on top, dancing on this tiny nine-inch platform while simultaneously playing both a pre-Columbian flute and drum.

  • A cafe parasol featuring the Ibex for Slovenian Lasko beer, a Slovenian favourite drink, on 20th June 2018, Dolenji Novaki, Slovenia. Lasko Brewery is the largest brewery in Slovenia and named after the town of Lasko, where it is located. The brewery was founded in 1825 by Franz Geyer, a gingerbread baker and mead producer. After World War II ended in 1945, Lasko was the fifth-largest in Yugoslavia, and by 1991 it was the largest among 28 Yugoslav breweries. It lost much of the Yugoslav market in 1991 after Slovenia declared independence and the resulting Ten-Day War, although sales rebounded during the 1990s. In 2016 Lasko and Union were formally merged into Pivovarna Lasko Union under the owner Heineken.
