  • A memorial has been placed where a fictitious TV character called Victor Meldrew was filmed being killed at Shawford Station, Hants, England, UK. If we drove past where someone's life ended, the victim would just be an anonymous statistic but flowers are left to die too and touching poems and dedications are written by family and loved-ones. One reads: "We don't want to win a million, we want Victor back!" From a project about makeshift shrines: ?Britons have long installed memorials in the landscape: Statues and monuments to war heroes, Princesses and the socially privileged. But nowadays we lay wreaths to those who die suddenly - ordinary folk killed as pedestrians, as drivers or by alcohol, all celebrated on our roadsides and in cities with simple, haunting roadside remberences.

The large man has parked his vehicle in a truck stop car park for an early evening food snack. The lady serving him works in an outside mobile burger bar that stands at this popular spot for working men as they pass-by this industrial corridor on the River Thames. Meanwhile, the serving woman's friend sits sunning himself and scratching his head beneath a film poster for the British comedy 'Run Fat Boy, Run' with actor Simon Pegg. Further in the distance, the English Cross of St George flutters and a line of electricity pylons take a transmission cables into central London, taking power into the capital. • From a hospital light box, we see a detail of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan. Sections of a patient's skull and brain illustrate to doctors, potential abnormalities. Dyes used in X-ray and CT scans in the same way because both areas use X-rays (ionizing radiation). Agents work by blocking the X-ray photons from passing through the area where they locate and reach the X-ray film. This results in differing levels of density on the X-ray/CT film but the dyes have no direct physiologic impact on the tissue in the body. MRI contrast works by altering the local magnetic field in the tissue being examined. Normal and abnormal tissue will respond differently to this slight alteration, yielding differing signals. Varied signals are transferred to the images, visualizing many different types of tissue abnormalities and diseases.
