  • A view of the green Yorkshire moors countryside looking down from a nearby hill to the top secret intelligence-gathering base of RAF Menwith Hill, near Harrogate, Yorkshire, England. One sees the surreal-looking white radomes in the shape of golf balls - each containing a satellite dish - that are dotted across the science-fiction landscape. Many of these are used for signals interception from communications satellites and are commonly thought to be part of the ECHELON and PRISM eavesdropping projects by the NSA, a highly secretive world-wide signals intelligence and analysis network. Other parts of this notorious site are thought to be used by the Space Based Infrared System employed by the US National Missile Defence program. The base has attracted significant levels of protest from anti-nuclear and pacifist groups.

  • An officer from the Atlanta Police Department puts his boot on a man's chest who is lying still in the gutter on the street. He and another person have been fighting in the downtown area and the officer has arrived in his patrol car after reports that a street brawl needed his interception. The officer's belt with a gun secured in its holster can be seen from a low ground level angle. It is a desolate and sinister place and the lights from a passing car and the green fluorescent glow from a parking lot (car park) is in the background. The police officer needs to calm the violent situation, pacifying the two men before the matter gets out of hand and preventing him from causing more trouble, he places his weight on the thorax to pin the male on the ground.

  • RAF Fylingdales is a British Royal Air Force station high on Snod Hill in the North York Moors, England. Before their demolition by Ministry of Defence contractors this early attack warning Cold War facility, consisted of three 40-metre-diameter 'golfballs' or geodesic domes (radomes) containing mechanically steered radar. They became a local tourist attraction and coach tours drove past the site listening to the interference on radios emitted by the radomes. They have since been replaced by the current tetrahedron ('pyramid') structure and is still a secret location. Its Motto is "Vigilamus" ("We are watching"). It is now a radar base and part of the United States-controlled Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS)...

  • Docked after night-time interceptions of migrant inflatables from the French coast via the English Channel is the UK Border Force's cutter HMC Vigilant in Ramsgate Harbour, on 8th January 2019, in Ramsgate, Kent, England. The Port of Ramsgate has been identified as a 'Brexit Port' by the government of Prime Minister Theresa May, currently negotiating the UK's exit from the EU. Britain's Department of Transport has awarded to an unproven shipping company, Seaborne Freight, to provide run roll-on roll-off ferry services to the road haulage industry between Ostend and the Kent port - in the event of more likely No Deal Brexit. In the EU referendum of 2016, people in Kent voted strongly in favour of leaving the European Union with 59% voting to leave and 41% to remain.

Discarded fats from restaurants congeal in sewer networks leading to blocked pipework. Sewer men are shovel the deposits and bring them in vats to the surface. In the early 19th century the River Thames was practically an open sewer, with disastrous consequences for public health in London, including numerous cholera epidemics with the The Great Stink of 1858 a turning point. Intercepting sewers constructed between 1859 and 1865 were fed by 450 miles (720 km) of main sewers that in turn conveyed the contents of some 13,000 miles (21,000 km) of smaller local sewers using 318m bricks, 880,000 cubic yards of concrete and mortar and excavation of over 3.5m tonnes of earth.
