  • The pedestrianised road junction at Carlton Avenue, Court Lane and Dulwich Village, has been blocked off to passing traffic with plant boxes at the corner as part of emergency Coronavirus pandemic policy to keep pedestrians safe at the expense of traffic, the first phase in an experimental road layout, on 30th June 2020, in London, England. Southwark was awarded £1.3 million by TfL from its Streetspace funding pot, which aims to rapidly transform London’s streets to help facilitate social distancing, cycling, and walking as lockdown eases. Dulwich Village low traffic neighbourhood was granted £23,000 for the first phase and £110,000 for the second. As part of its ‘our healthy streets’ initiative, the council had already earmarked the Village as an LTN.

  • From a low angle looking upwards to the building exterior of the Hotel Negresco on the Promenade de Anglais, Nice. We see the colourful orange light bulbs and the overall green hue from sodium illumination and the blue of the evening sky. In the foreground is an example of the ubiquitous palm trees that line the Côte d'Azur. The Hotel Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais on the Baie des Anges in Nice, France was named for Henri Negresco (1868-1920) who had the palatial hotel constructed in 1912. In 2003 the Hotel Negresco was listed by the government of France as a National Historic Building. Nice is a major tourist centre and a leading resort on the French Riviera. • At the height of financial uncertainty, we see from a low pavement angle investors queueing outside the Maddox Street branch of the troubled Northern Rock Bank, off Regent Street, Mayfair, in September 2007. Their hard-earned savings appear to be in jeopardy after the bank announced an emergency loan from the Bank of England. Despite reassurances from officials who insisted that the Bank which has £113bn in assets, was not in danger of going bust, concerned men and women wait in line, some with their faces on view and reading newspapers or more commonly, wishing to remain anonymous and keeping their backs to reporters and cameras. The rush of customers demanding their investments almost spelled the demise of the bank with over £2bn removed from accounts in a few days. Northern Rock struggled since money markets seized up over the summer. .

  • An anonymous youth sprays graffiti from an aerosol spraycan onto a west London wall. .Viewed from a low angle, an unidentified youth is seen spraying graffiti art on to a wall in the Notting Hill area of West London, England. We see his partially-obscured face lit from behind with a strong amount of flash which throws a well-defined shadow of his hand holding a spray can. It is a chilly night and the boy's breath is seen against the frosty night air. His graffiti art has taken him some hours to spray on this white wall and shows a glossy finish. The picture is anonymous because of the young man's face is unseen and generic, because we don't see where the wall might be located.

  • Looking downwards from a high vantage point on a hillside, we see one mountain-biker leading a second cyclist as they traverse across a sunlit mountainside near the hamlet of Masecha in the parish of Triesenberg, Liechtenstein. The late afternoon sun is low across the valley and there is a haze that partly obscures and refracts light over the distant landscape. There is snow on the distant mountain peaks but the countryside has the brown look of a snowless winter. Far off villages and hamlets hug the hillsides and golden light floods the scene. The tiny landlocked Principality of Liechtenstein is bordered by the Alpine countries of Austria and Switzerland and is a winter sports resort, though best known as a tax haven, attracting companies worldwide to register their assets in secrecy. .

  • Two ladies are seen from a very low angle as they parade down an avenue during the Spring Feria in Seville, Spain. Beneath dozens of colourful decorations which hang from cables above their heads, they walk holding drinks laughing gaily. They are both dressed in traditional red and white flamenco dresses with red and yellow scarves around their necks. It is a lively event that Seville holds annually in the vast fairground area on the far bank of the Guadalquivir River. Rows of temporary marquee tents, or casetas, host families, corporations and friends into the late hours during the April Fair which begins begins two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week in the Andalusian capital.

A family of four stroll along the sandy beach during low tide. It is a hot afternoon but we only see a quiet scene at this busy resort.

  • During the Cannes Film Festival, we see a group of women taken from a very low angle , posing in bikinis and revealing swim wear for a frenzy of photographers on La Croisette, Cannes' sea front in the French Riviera resort, Cote d'Azur. One blonde girl is looking down into the camera while we see only the hips, arms, and legs of the others as they parade their bodies in front of the media who are grouped tightly together with cameras and a sound microphone. Young women publicising movies or just themselves regularly strut along the beaches and pavements of this French town. The weather is typically bright for May with clear skies and high temperatures. Cannes is a major tourist centre and a leading resort on the French Riviera. Located in the Alpes-Maritimes région, Founded in 1939, the International Film Festival is one of the world's most prestigious and eccentric of celebrations of film and the cinema industry.

We see the lower section of a horse ramp and another horse is in the background. Seen from a low angle, both the horses hoof and her foot in red high heel shoes appear to be askew in a postural echo, when two mannerisms or body language are similar. The light is blue because of the shadow both subjects are in but her shoes and matching short red dress appear vibrant in saturation and hue.

  • A four year-old girl plays some sort of religious role-play game - perhaps an angel or the Virgin Mary - but what do see is her age of innocence as she wears an NHS blanket like a shawl over her head and draped over her arms like a Christian icon. Next to her is her 18 month-old baby brother who has learned to drink his warm milk from a plastic bottle, recently coming to like both breast and formula milk. Together they look at something that is interesting out of frame. The viewer looks up at the two siblings from a low angle to see them tall against the corniced ceiling of their South London home. From a personal documentary project entitled "Next of Kin" about the photographer's two children's early years spent in parallel universes. Model released.

  • A father supports his son on his shoulders as a giant four-engined airliner passes directly overhead, about to land at London's Heathrow airport, England. Seen from a low angle, we see the graphic cruciform shape of the aircraft as it screams past two powerful airfield landing lights that help guide arriving aircraft to the runway. The backlit scene is largely monochrome apart from the boys red t-shirt and yellow-faced watch which are lit by flash, underexposing the overcast sky. Prior to 9/11, British airport authorities and police tolerated plane spotters near runway fences but with heightened terrorist alerts, these enthusiasts are told to move on or face arrest. Picture from the 'Plane Pictures' project, a celebration of aviation aesthetics and flying culture, 100 years after the Wright brothers first 12 seconds/120 feet powered flight at Kitty Hawk,1903. .

The 50kg carcasses have been swimming across the Indian Ocean non-stop since birth and having just been line-caught by freelance boat crews who share profits for only high-quality fish that passes stringent health tests. The tuna has been encased in ice since being landed at sea to keep a low-temperature body core so the workers cut out the prime flesh as quickly as possible before boxing the resulting chunks of steak for export by air to Europe and in particular for customers such as UK's Sainsbury's supermarket. The Sri Lankan butchers are ex-fishermen and widowers, having lost their families during the Tsunami. Using extremely sharp knives, they skillfully remove valuable meat and throw away the rest.

  • A Puma helicopter (one of a pair) takes-off from Ruskin Park at 10.50pm, on 7th March 2017, in the London borough of Lambeth, England. Pumas in ones or twos occasionally land for a few minutes with engines running before departing again for other destinations. It's believed these landings help train flight crews for future evacuation of VIPs in times of emergency using open space locations like public parks. On this occasion, the two aircraft landed with lights off (so perhaps using night-vision) in the darkness.
