Every year 60,000 boys attend recruiting sessions in villages and towns in the Himalayan Kingdom but only 150 are selected each year to serve on active duty across the world. They fly to the UK for basic soldier training where they learn the skills required for infantry, transport, communications or clerical duties. Their reputation as a fierce but intensely loyal fighting force and many Victoria Crosses were won for bravery during World War 2. Whippets in the UK are a medium-size dog averaging in weight from 15 to 30 lb (6.8-14 kg), with height (under the FCI standard) of 18.5 - 20 inches (47 - 51 cm) for males and 17.5-18.5 inches (44-47 cm) for females. Whippets are generally quiet and gentle dogs, and may be content to spend much of the day resting. After a chance to run about and let off steam, they are happy to become couch-potatoes. They are loyal and friendly. Because of this, whippets are known to have been used in aged care facilities.

Nicknamed Cronky she was a member of the Hockeyroos at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where the team ended up in fifth place in the overall-rankings.
