  • Lely's Venus (Aphrodite) in the British Museum, London. Here, the Godess Venus is surprised as she bathes, her water jar resting on her thigh. She crouches naked and attempts to cover herself with arms and hands. Naked Aphrodite was a popular subject with ancient Greek sculptors as she was with the Romans who called her Venus. This statue is a Roman copy of the Greek original, probably made in the 1st or 2nd century.

  • From the side of a road in south London, we see a group of naked female mannequins, standing and sitting with furniture on the forecourt of an office supplies business. A clearance sign stands partly-obscured but one's attention is to the physiques of each model that tends to signify whichever the fashion industry has decreed is the 'look' of the decade - whether buxom or skinny - and shop windows are therefore occupied with the clothing shapes of the day. Some women stand in that classic fashion pose, with arms at the side and one leg in front of the other, or sitting with one leg elegantly crossed: All designed to make the clothes they wear look attractive.

  • Fake classical Greek statues stand outside a night club in Nafplio, a former Byzantines, Frank, Venetian, and Ottoman coastal Peloponnese port town of 14,000 on the Argolic Gulf. The walls of this modern building seen near wasteland on the outskirts of town are made to look authentic but result in a false tourist style. There are three pieces of fake art that stand on well-watered grass: One of a nude Greek Goddess, a miniature lion in the middle and nearest the viewer is a naked figure of a man - muscular and classically posed as a heroic and mythical figure. Nafplio was also the first capital of independent Greece which was destroyed in the 7th Century for its alliance with Sparta. This contemporary landscape is therefore bears no resemblance to its heritage.

  • A baby girl is crawling on all-fours along her parents' pavement, in a suburban London back garden. Her body weight is spread on two legs and one arm while she moves along confidently, placing her other hand on the warm surface, one summer day. The infant is a approximately 10 months and is gaining strength from her legs which will soon be strong enough to stand and eventually walk. The summer sun is on her back and the shadow of garden chair furniture is on the path alongside her. She has a contented expression on her face as if her little adventure in a big outside, wider world is for her to explore.

  • On stage, two beautiful topless girls stand semi-naked with a gentleman admirer during a variety show at the famous Parisian cabaret company Paradis Latin, Paris France. In front of glittery stars, the two ladies of the night are dressed in satin stockings and suspenders, flirting with this male dressed in top hat and tails, holding the hand of one lady and the about to kiss the cheek of the other, all the time lit with stage spotlights and the silhouetted heads of the front row audience at the bottom of the picture. The two girls appear to be twins but are probably wearing blonde wigs to make them look like a male 'Gentlemen prefer blondes' fantasy. • An adult business window displays the naughty underwear worn by five mannequin models of a Soho sex shop on Old Compton Street in London's West End. Tilted slightly to the left, we see the 5 models posing in various positions of suggestive stances, all demonstrating the shop's array of erotic clothing for the Good Time Girl! On the far right is the artwork of a topless woman, wearing only knee-length stockings. See from behind, the line-drawing of the female suggests a dancer on a Parisian stage act such as the Folies Bergere or Paradis Latin - variety performances for the male admirer. She looks over her left shoulder as if to wink in our direction, all part of the illusion of coquettish desire and greedy eroticism. Old Compton Street is known for cafes, bars and especially the gay, trans-gender scene and for sellers of erotic toy 'accessories'!

  • A young girl holds railings at the site of Brussels' famous landdmark, the Mannekin Pis statuette, dressed in red...Manneken Pis (literally little man pee in Marols, a dialect spoken in Brussels, also known in French as le Petit Julien), is a famous Brussels landmark. It is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin. It was designed by Jerome Duquesnoy and put in place in 1618 or 1619.[1] It bears a similar cultural significance as Copenhagen's Little Mermaid. The statue is dressed in costume several times each week, according to a published schedule which is posted on the railings around the fountain. His wardrobe consists of several hundred different costumes,
