  • A bemused passer-by walks past a strange sight in Wardour Street, Central London, England UK. Even for London where bizarre events take place, this strange scene attracts attention from strangers such as this mountain bike that has been attached to the top of a parking notice pole, locked in place by a D-lock - a crime prevention measure to thwart any determined bike thief, of which there are many in the city. Cycling in London is increasing by 80% every year but 52 bikes are stolen with nearly 440,000 reported stolen a year.

  • We see the upper-body of a businessman walking past the lower-body of another man also wearing a suit. We see the passer-by in a shirt and tie but only two hands, legs and trousers up to the waist of the sunbather, the rest of his upper-body is obscured by the angle of the lens. It is a witty perspective, leading us to believe that the two men are the same person. The words Dim Sum Daily are displayed in neon lights above the person's head, its translated message is written on the top in Chinese characters. In the clear window we can see rows of Peking duck. It is early evening and the street is full of colour from the artificial lighting that creates an inviting mood for those browsing the menus on offer in this lively part of London's West End. The pedestrian is partly silhouetted and she stands in profile looking straight ahead as if ignoring what is on offer.

  • Attending to a floral memorial of Lillies in a 5th Avenue store front in mid-town Manhattan. In the days following the September 11th attacks, a store window dresser is seen through the glass with Fifth Avenue reflected behind. The words "In Memory and Gratitude" are written in block capitals on the window and a passer-by walks briskly past the large floral display and the large US flag that hangs vertically in mourning for those killed and those heroes helping to uncover their remains in the debris. America sought to express their anger and patriotic unity by installing these shrines in the frontages of businesses and in homes as New Yorkers try to pick up the pieces of their lives.

  • As a young office worker sleeps incongruously on a marble pavement, a street sweeper nearby brushes away litter with a small dustpan. The manual labourer wears blue overalls, yellow gloves and keys in his back pocket while the man in a wastecoat and smart trousers and polished slip-on shoes appears to be fast asleep, his fingers across his chest. This scene suggests the social divisions of the working man: Of the young, educated post-war generation whose opportunities have afforded them a faster lifestyle, far removed from that of the physically-demanding job of a man whose life has been spent cleaning and sweeping. English social differences is clearly represented here as the harshness of the manual labourer versus a lazy youth of today, seen in the middle of the modern city.

  • A walker passes a pile of assorted plastic materials awaiting removal from the coastal landscape, having been collected by volunteers from a beach on Holy Island, on 27th September 2017, on Lindisfarne Island, Northumberland, England. The amount of rubbish found dumped on UK beaches rose by a third last year, according to a new report. More than 8,000 plastic bottles were collected by the Marine Conservation Society’s annual beach clean-up at seaside locations from Orkney to the Channel Islands on one weekend in September 2016. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, also known simply as Holy Island, is an island off the northeast coast of England. Holy Island has a recorded history from the 6th century AD; it was an important centre of Celtic and Anglo-saxon Christianity. After the Viking invasions and the Norman conquest of England, a priory was reestablished.

The hotspot has surprised developers and passers-by below and which has already melted a parked car and left soft street fittings smouldering in Eastcheap Street, City of London, the capital's financial district. One thermometer placed in the street reached 144F (62 celsius) and others off the scale and city workers poured out of their offices at lunchtime to witness the strange phenomena of intense, Biblical light and blistering heat.
