He holds a placard with the now famous Peace Symbol, originally designed in 1958 for the British nuclear disarmament movement, designed by British artist Gerald Holtom for the march planned by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC) from Trafalgar Square, London to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston. • At first glance, we see an angry male holding the severed head of another man in his right hand. But this is a circus act from the Archaos troupe, a french company of oerformers who tour the world with their anarchic version of big top entertainment. With a dark background and with the apparent murderer wearing black, it is an image of raw, homocidal thuggery: A massacre and attack on another human being. Despite it being a pretence, an act for the sake of an audience with a thirst for the macabre, it is still very disturbing.

Amid chaotic scenes across London and Paris where mass-arrests and civil disobedience marked what was planned as a pre-Olympic carnival, the IOC's event proved a disaster for Chinese organisers. 37 were arrested but these facts were blanked from official TV screens which showed only the calm personlities who carried in turn the Olympic flame.

According to Thomas Edison, "Tivadar Puskas was the first person to suggest the idea of a telephone exchange". Puskás's idea finally became a reality in 1877 in Boston. It was then that the Hungarian word "hallom" "I hear you" was used for the first time in a telephone conversation when, on hearing the voice of the person at the other end of the line, Puskás shouted "hallom". This cannot be confirmed by any original documents, however it has passed into Hungarian modern folklore. Hallom was shortened to Hello.
