  • Two local children squeeze through railings of the unkempt cemetery attached to the Blaenau Baptist Church in the south Wales town of Abertillery (Welsh: Abertyleri). The kids have walked their dog through this field filled with old headstones and graves, playing safely in the open-air of this Welsh community. Rows of terraced Victorian homes line the distant end of this ground and then clinging to far hill side and beyond. Its population rose steeply during the period of (now defunct) mining development in South Wales, being 10,846 in 1891 and 21,945 ten years later. Lying in the mountainous mining district of the former counties of Monmouthshire and Glamorganshire, in the valley of the Ebbw Fach. • Local women walk along a hot road towards Qurna, a village on the West Bank of Luxor, Nile Valley, Egypt. In Egypt, sugar cane juice is called aseer asab and is by far the most popular drink served by almost all fruit juice vendors, who are abundant in most cities. It is sold by roadside vendors, where the juice is squeezed fresh when ordered. Raw sugar cane juice can be a health risk to drinkers due to the unhygienic conditions under which it is prepared. There are some diseases that can be transmitted by raw sugar-cane like Leptospirosis

G-pants counteract the effects of high gravity stresses that jet-fighters impose on the human body, automatically inflating and squeezing blood back to the thorax and head when blood drains towards the legs.

  • Seen from an office block high vantage point, thousands of commuters pour northwards over London Bridge against the direction of queueing buses and cars. It is a scene about the transient business community and mass transport. The working population arrives early for work over the bridge in the City of London's historic financial district. We see the sunlit faces of those walking towards the viewer which echo the red tail lights of the stationary vehicles. So gridlocked is the traffic on the southbound carriageway, there is a lone cyclist stuck and squeezed between the curb and a double-decker bus. On the other side of the road, the street is almost empty of motors adding to the drama and chaos. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. The City of London is a geographically-small City within Greater London, England. The City as it is known, is the historic core of London from which, along with Westminster, the modern conurbation grew. The City's boundaries have remained constant since the Middle Ages but it is now only a tiny part of Greater London. The City of London is a major financial centre, often referred to as just the City or as the Square Mile, as it is approximately one square mile (2.6 km) in area. London Bridge's history stretches back to the first crossing over Roman Londinium, close to this site and subsequent wooden and stone bridges have helped modern London become a financial success. ...

  • Lying horizontal in a busy salon, a lady passenger receives eyebrow threading treatment during a beauty session at the Blink Eyebrow Bar in World Duty Free, Heathrow Airport's terminal 5. The beautician holds the thread that squeezes the woman's eyebrow follicles, removing the tiniest and finest hair right from the root. Threading is a technique that China has been using for centuries but has recently become popular in western countries. Amid the busy departures terminal of this international aviation hub, this is a corner of quiet and tranquillity before the woman traveller boards her business flight after this few minutes of pampering. From writer Alain de Botton's book project "A Week at the Airport: A Heathrow Diary" (2009).
