  • Seen from a low angle, we see a big sister turning around to see what her younger brother is up to as they sit back-to-back in a park in London, England. The boy is actually playing with the girl's toy windmill, turning its sails proving a fun way of passing part of a summer's afternoon in this inner-city park. His sister is unimpressed however and she is about to snatch her own property back - not because she needs it, but simply because it is hers. These siblings are having to learn sharing each other's things and as a five and three year-old are finding out, it's a hard lesson. From a personal documentary project entitled "Next of Kin" about the photographer's two children's early years spent in parallel universes. Model released.

  • A smart elderly lady walks into a late sun on a chilly afternoon on the Kings Road, Chelsea, London, England. Striding past the viewer she has a determined look on her face, a purpose for reaching her destination without delay and oblivious to other influences. Other shoppers are walking in her directionand their faces are also lit by the sunshine but in the background they are less prominant than the woman in the foreground. With so little highlights, this image is full of low-key shadow making it dark and gloomy. Kings Road Chelsea is a chic street that found modern fame during the Sixties when pretty young things paraded their new-found fashion clothing.

  • A detail of the ornate sign hanging outside the Sailor's Reading Room on East Cliff, Southwold, Suffolk. Topless mermaids and a shell form part of the sign on a red brick wall of this Grade II listed Sailors' Reading Room, which still provides daily papers and a place to read them. Built in 1864 in memory of Captain Charles Rayley RN, a naval officer at the time of Trafalgar, the Reading Room was a refuge for fishermen and sailors. It provided a place to meet and receive religious instruction, away from the pubs, and somewhere to read things that were good for the soul. Displays of a seafaring nature line the walls and fill glass cabinets. Pictures and portraits of local fishermen and seascapes, model ships and maritime paraphernalia offer a fascinating history of Southwold's connections with the sea.

  • Honeymooners cuddle in front of their Boeing 747-400 that will soon take them on a round-the-world adventure, leaving from Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5B. The couple are seen as silhouettes against the natural light of the large plate glass windows. As the aircraft is readied and before the flight's air travellers are called to the departure gate, the young man and woman put their heads imagining what new things they will see as their airliner is about to transport them to experience new cultures and possibly a new life. In the background, we see other jets that are parked in their respective jetties across the main movement area, the apron. From writer Alain de Botton's book project "A Week at the Airport: A Heathrow Diary" (2009). .
