But venues such as the Duke of York's Theatre in the West End whose last production was 'Blithe Spirit', will remain closed for the foreseeable future, on 7th July 2020, in London, England. Some theatres in London and others around the country have been wrapped in bright pink barrier tape, which reads "Missing Live Theatre" - a protest project led by stage designers group Scene Change. The arts and culture arts industry supports 137,250 jobs and is worth £21.2bn in direct turnover.

  • We see four office workers silhouetted against the large orange wall of the Credit Lyonnais Bank at Broadgate in the City of London, UK. Several figures who are also reduced to black shapes and without detail that may identify them or their clothes, are hurrying in different directions, carrying a bag or briefcase but the feeling of rushing business is seen and their scale is ambiguous becase we don't know how close or far away they are from each other. This is due to telephoto lens forshortening. Some therefore look giants and some appear tiny. Broadgate Estate is a large, 32 acre (129,000 m²) office and retail estate in the City of London, owned by British Land and managed by Broadgate Estates. It was originally built by Rosehaugh and was the largest office development in London until the arrival of Canary Wharf in the early 1990s..

  • A large man with a shaved head and hairy back is seen from behind as he watches a display by the elite 'Red Arrows', Britain's prestigious Royal Air Force aerobatic team at Weymouth, England. A heart shape which grows from his bald head has been drawn with red smoke in the sky two Hawk jet aircraft taking part in the town's annual air show along the sea front. Such a tough-looking male specimen contrasts with the romance of this valentine symbol helping to make this picture's quirky juxtaposition touching. The Red Arrows use smoke to emphasize their flight-path, help the spectators see their manoeuvres and to make more of an enjoying spectacle. In blue sky they use white smoke for The Heart and red when overcast. We watch the man from below and see him craning his neck skywards, the skin on his thick neck wrinkling as he looks heavy from this angle.

  • With few visitors to see, a young boy pees into the water surrounding a model town at the Splendid China model village, the 30 hectares large tourist attraction in the city of Shenzhen, China. The kid aims into the water with his mother's help. In the background we see some of the 50,000 ceramic figures and scenes from a period in Chinese history and further away, modern skyscrapers in the metropolis contrasting with ancient, traditional village life. Splendid China is an attraction at the Overseas Chinese Town, Shenzhen that has scaled down replicas of China's historical buildings, wonderful scenes and folk customs. The scale models are of a 1:15 with 100 miniaturized landmarks such as The Terracotta Warriors; Great Wall; Forbidden City; Old Summer Palace etc. all laid out according to their geographic locations.

  • We are looking down from above to office and business workers who are lying down and relaxing in the grass in their lunch break at Finsbury Circus, a circular green park space in the heart of London's financial district, the City of London. Surrounding them is an art instillation of steel sheep that are incongruously grazing among the assorted people, much like they once did when London was a home to livestock en-route to market and other animals used for transport. It is a warm afternoon and in the foreground, a man wearing a dark suit has taken off his polished shoes and is lying his head on his jacket in the warm afternoon, loosening his tight tie and stretching his neck. Elsewhere, a lady is sitting eating a packed lunch with the Sun newspaper and a man a little further behind is in jeans and plimsoll shoes. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. The City of London is a geographically-small City within Greater London, England. The City as it is known, is the historic core of London from which, along with Westminster, the modern conurbation grew. The City's boundaries have remained constant since the Middle Ages but it is now only a tiny part of Greater London. The City of London is a major financial centre, often referred to as just the City or as the Square Mile, as it is approximately one square mile (2.6 km) in area. London Bridge's history stretches back to the first crossing over Roman Londinium, close to this site and subsequent wooden and stone bridges have helped modern London become a financial success.

  • Despite a gloriously bright summer afternoon, we see a depressing corner of Southend-on-Sea's Adventure Island. A young couple sits on some white towels in front of a wall that is adorned with graffiti and has its paint rubbed away. It is a scene of squalor and desolation in a town that makes revenue from the day-tripper holiday market. Since Victorian times, many Londoners have traditionally come to this south-east coast on the Thames Estuary, close to the capital. Towns like this have seen a marked decline since the advent of the package tourism in favour of exotic beaches in Spain.

  • In late afternoon winter sun, a lady emerges from deep shadow wearing a fur hat on the Kings Road in Chelsea, London, England. Foreign magazines line a rack of an outdoor newsagent and we only see the lady's head in the sunlight. There is a low colour temperature orange glow to the picture and only the lady's face wrapped in a fur hat and the magazine covers can be seen in detail. There are few highlights apart from the magazines in the sun, and more shadow area making this a dark image. The Kings Road has been famous in London since the 60s when fashion and flower power was the label most associated with being young and hip in the Swinging Sixties. It is more sober these days but families and young people tend to be wealthier, white and middle-class than other areas such as Carnaby Street which is seen as seedy and cheap.
