In front of glittery stars, the two ladies of the night are dressed in satin stockings and suspenders, flirting with this male dressed in top hat and tails, holding the hand of one lady and the about to kiss the cheek of the other, all the time lit with stage spotlights and the silhouetted heads of the front row audience at the bottom of the picture. The two girls appear to be twins but are probably wearing blonde wigs to make them look like a male 'Gentlemen prefer blondes' fantasy. • Seen low from behind stage, a male voice choir are lined up to sing during their performance at an open-air temporary auditorium during the Lambeth Show, an inner-city cultural and family event held annually in Dulwich Park, a leafy suburb of South London. The choristers are dressed in white shirts which are untidily untucked from their dark trousers (pants). Their heads echo the purple, yellow and red spots from the overhead lights. The front of stage is covered by a curved ribbed roof structure that arches over the mens' heads. The singers look small in scale to the cavernous height of this ceiling, occupying a small percentage of the frame. We cannot see the choir's conductor, nor their audience but we get an impression of wide area in which to project their voices

  • A contestant for the next Torbay Carnival Princess and Queen is interviewed by a man as the competition thrones await their newest occupants during the seaside town's fair in Devon, England. A crown, hat and two bouquets of flowers are for the young girls too. The theme of the stage is blue, with matching colours on both cushions and the backing curtain (drapes). We get a sense of the tacky and the old-fashioned nature of the carnival and of its princess competition.

  • Young men in drag perform to an audience as part of their Club 18-30 holiday experience to Ibiza, Spain. A tour rep encourages the men to push their inibitions to the limit but with a reputation for 'Sun, Sand and Sex' the 18-30 holiday formula has been labelled as parents' worth nightmare. From from the company's web site however the fantasy sounds less riotous: "There comes a time in life when you need to do it for yourself. A time to break free and break the mould. To explore, leave the map at home and find yourself. To find that one moment and make it last a lifetime. That time is now. Sunrise to sunset. Sunset to sunrise. This is the time of your life. Love every single second of it."
