  • A young man has his face painted by a friend during 1995 VE Day 50th anniversary street party in London's East End. He sits with an outdoor party behind him in full swing that celebrates the 50th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day on 6th May 1995. In the week near the anniversary date of May 8, 1945, when the World War II Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Germany and peace was announced to tumultuous crowds across European cities, the British still go out of their way to honour those sacrificed and the realisation that peace was once again achieved. Street parties now – as they did in 1945 – played a large part in the country’s patriotic well-being.

  • We see three friends close-up enjoying a festive party at Hamiltons pub in the City of London only a week before Christmas. It is a busy evening in the public house which is located near Liverpool Street mainline Station and they are in a humerous spirit just having fired off party streamers that have stuck to their clothes and faces. Two are wearing red and white santa claus hats but are stil in their work clothes. One is about to drink some of his pint of beer from a long, straight glass. The three look comical because of the streamers draped over their bodies and they are laughing and giggling at a joke that one has cracked. In the background a man is looking quizzically at the decorations. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. There are other people in the background including two men at the bar and a man on his own edging past with a cigarette in his right hand. It is a gloomy place to party with little artificial light to colour (color) the scene. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. • Four energetic party goers are dressed up as eccentric 70s punks at a Halloween event in Adrenaline Village, Battersea, London UK. Taken from below them with flash the group is in a dark club environment, their make-up is authentic-looking complete with hair gel and mascara. They wear tights and a girl on the left has safety pins while being licked on the neck by a man. Another is wearing a Union Jack sleeveless T-shirt while one person is looking directly at the camera. They might look authentic but it has been 20 years since Punk was the huge youth culture of the day.
